Convert Server PSU Stack to Bench PSU

It’s finally cold enough and things are slowing down enough that I can get the Proxmox Homelab back online. I took it down in the summer and didn’t anticipate how difficult it would be to bring it back online and streamline upgrades styling Frankenstein. Lets just say I borrowed parts from my old cluster…

Software side I had it all organized but then the kids scattered those notes to the wind! One of the main problems of a fully encrypted operating system is losing passwords. As has been said, I am my own worst enemy! Fixed it this round, I think.

So, I’m probably nuking everything and starting over. Ceph should be easy enough to rebuild better. Last year I was playing around with AI bot trainers. Wonder how much they’ve developed over at https://huggingface.co/ since then? Not much point in further developing my own trainer since they’re off-the-shelf now. I’ve been meaning to do an article on mothballing. Any case, I do want to use what I’ve learned about mapping hashes to containers as bots in a swarm, and all the wild derivatives of this tangent.

It’s really important to have an organized workflow. When you’re juggling lots of old projects, things get pretty cluttered pretty fast. I had lots of old parts lying around to start which was an advantage, but nursing old parts back to fully assembled machines is difficult to streamline when older stuff begins to groan. I need to make things smaller and more portable. I need to continue to improve my processor count.

I’m working on improving the quality and throughput of my output. Being able to load a specialized AI bot like a cartridge in a Nintendo I think will help but also hinder growth. There’s so much information to go through now that lots of work is needing to be resurrected from mothball but often it’s faster just to rebuild it.

Oh geez, I’m procrastinating again. Used to be building a computer was like Christmas. Nowadays, thousands of computers assembled later, it’s a bit of a chore.

Should I retrofit my old server PSU’s to ATX, or turn them into something else? What’s the cost/benefit of loading up on some refurbished Hitachi’s vs gambling with some new consumer-grade? Should I stack a bunch of old miners into one cluster with one power supply?

Hard saying the best course. Wow this is a cool thread…

Sort of the same function as these bad boys.

Hmm…

ELECTRIC SHOCK, INJURY, PROPERTY DAMAGE, OR DEATH! ALWAYS SEEK AN ELECTRICAL ENGINEER WHO IS QUALIFIED IN DISCHARGING ELECTRICITY BEFORE PROCEEDING!!! HUGE CAPACITORS INSIDE!
